BlackCoffeeDrinker picked up a MicroVAX 3100 M40, and gave me (NCommander), access to it. I am accessing this machine entirely remotely. Currently, only console and networking is plugged in, although there's a 4 GiB DEC SCSI hard drive that appears to have been used as a scratch partition.
These are my notes, write-ups and adventures as I go through this machine.
Current Status
- Successfully netbooted into NetBSD 7.1
- Currently not booting Ultrix 4.5 from network
- HDD read successful, appears to be a scratch drive from use in a VAXCluster(?)
- Identified problem in lcg0 which is a framebuffer device thaqt this VAX does not have. It's not active on the install kernel
The Plan
Right now, I'm looking to get NetBSD 10 running on it.
